There are a wide range of employment tribunal claims. For example if you are owed wages or holiday pay or if you believe that you’ve been unfairly dismissed or discriminated against then you might consider bringing a claim. So what does that involve? The first step of the tribunal process is to initiate early conciliation via ACAS. This is a mandatory step to see whether ACAS can negotiate a settlement before proceedings are issued. If early conciliation is not successful then it is necessary to complete and submit a tribunal claim form within the relevant time limits. Once this is done the tribunal will process your claim and send a copy of it to your employer. You will be given 28 days to respond. The tribunal also usually lists the claim for a hearing at this point and issues a timetable of things to do. This whole process can be quite daunting and lengthy.
